Most clients come to Aid for Women for pregnancy tests. Providing a pregnancy test gives us an opportunity to share more with the client than just the results of her test. The client receives the knowledge and encouragement she needs to make wholesome choices regarding her pregnancy or sexual activity.
Our counselors provide each woman with honest and complete information so that she can make an informed decision. We frankly discuss fetal development, abortion procedures and their risks, adoption possibilities, parenting and available resources, sexually transmitted diseases and their risks, contraception and its risks, abstinence, Natural Family Planning and post-abortion trauma and healing. A negative test result is a perfect opportunity to discuss necessary lifestyle changes that promote self-respect and recognition that one’s sexuality and fertility are gifts from God.
