Volunteers are the heart and core of Aid for Women! We would not be able to do this vital and worthy work without our many dedicated and loyal volunteers. Last year, volunteers gave more than 2,600 hours of time to Aid for Women.
Our volunteers have been busy at work — from our crisis pregnancy counselors to our Life Skills instructors at Heather’s House. Pregnancy counselors continue to provide telephone and face-to-face support to the women who come to us with unplanned pregnancies, while Life Skills instructors are teaching skills such as childcare, cooking, exercise, computer and study skills to the residents at Heather’s House. Other volunteers provide help wherever needed in areas such as special projects, office support, transportation and the sorting of material donations.
At the moment we are in particular need of nursery helpers and a handyman at Heather’s House. Additional crisis pregnancy counselors are also needed at our downtown and Berwyn locations. Counseling experience is not necessary, just a passion to help women in need. No-cost training is provided.
Aid for Women is very grateful for the service and commitment of our volunteers, and we hope the volunteer experience with us is always joyful and rewarding. For more information on volunteer opportunites, please contact Frances Jimenez at 312/880-9280 or fjimenez@aidforwomen.org.
