A Call from Seattle
by Carolyn Whalen

It is always gratifying when our efforts are affirmed. One morning recently at Aid for Women, I experienced this when a call came in from the state of Washington. The caller's name was Sue and she inquired if I knew of a crisis pregnancy center in the Seattle area. After providing the necessary information, she then asked if I had a few minutes to listen to her story. She began by telling me that her son would have been the victim of an abortionist if she had not mistakenly come to Aid for Women thinking it was where she could get an abortion. Everything she heard from the counselor that day was exactly what she wished not to hear. She remembered lashing out in frustration that the help being offered was so limited and not beneficial long term. The counselor told a desperate Sue, 'God will help you.' Sue said those words were often in her thoughts over the years although her immediate reaction to that statement was extreme feelings of doubt and cynicism. Fifteen years later she wanted me to know that she absolutely had no doubt that it was in fact God who helped her. She cried as she told me how wonderful her son is and that he brings her nothing but happiness. Sue now looks forward to offering the hope and help to others that she gratefully acknowledges having received. She thought there was no solution to what she perceived an impossible situation, but learned instead that with God's help, all things are possible.

Space to Serve More
Signing a seven year lease for the enlarged space our center occupies, heralds greater success for Aid for Women in the future. It is possible for us to serve twice as many women as we have in the past. Those women in need who come to us for counsel and care are welcomed at our inviting, home-like center. Added privacy and convenience for pregnancy testing is in consideration of our clients and counselors alike. As dependent as we are on spiritual strength and enlightenment to give good counsel, we have been led to provide for a PRAYER ROOM at our center. This ROOM will be dedicated soon on an appropriate feast day. For us, the legacy of ministry at our special location is a source of timeless inspiration.
